People spend far too much time
dwelling on trivialities. If we knew
how much we could accomplish in
the same amount of time that we
usually alot to watching TV, all the
networks would go bankrupt. On the
same token, had I spent as much time
thinking about what to say for my
Senior Quote as I had doing home-
work, my class rank would be con-
siderably higher. Good bye JJ — Matt
UR not Thor. Harvey is MLP.

A man walks down a street and asks
himself "Why do I walk down this
street?" There is a rumble in the dis-
tance as an enormous hand reaches
down from the Heavens, plucks the
poor fellow off his feet, and hurls
him into pool of muck. The hand
vanishes and the perplexed man
reads a sign now set before him:
"Evah a ecin yad . . . yad dayo on

Taking time from the passions of life.
One gazes into the void
More magnificent than time itself.
He has no reply to life's futility
And can only laugh,

And what they call "important".

After some months living in the
United States, I came to believe that
you have to actually live in a country
to understand and appreciate it. I
heartily recommend to everyone
that if the opportunity arises to grasp
it and move to another country at
least for a short time. I found my stay
here not only a wonderful learning
experience, but also lots of fun.

Slightly Irr,

The Harborlight Newspaper editors and their associated writer folk managed to do one
or two interesting things this year. For the first time, the newspaper was distributed
free of charge and, believe it or not, people liked the idea. We published somewhat
controversial articles on feminism, AIDS activism and Catholicism, in addition to securing
an interview with Association of Concerned Taxpayers activist, Susan Marshall. The
Harborlight was proud to report on the growing rapport between the Drama Club and
sports teams as well as the success of the fall pep rallies and subsequent increase in
school spirit. We were proud to feature a talented group of humor writers and pho-
tographers among our ranks. The editors would like to thank Anna Rehnquist, Paul
Manganello, Roger Boddie, Richard MacLeod, Tom Brady of Gallery Graphics, and our
staff of excellent (if procrastinating) writers, artists, and photographers. Special thanks
to the leaders of the Class of 1992 for their creative, unique talents and positive attitudes
— we could always count on you for good news to print.

The Latin Club was spawned this year after increasing pressure
from unappreciated Latin scholars who beforehand were able to ply
their skills only at the Vatican.

The Latin Club is divided into the Illustrious Senate, and everybody
else. Activities thus far include gladiatorial showdowns with the
mighty Bataka stick, the reconstruction of the Roman Ruins of rm.
214, worship of strange and unknown gods, and pizza-gobbling
while watching cheezy movies. The climax of the year is the
annual Orgie in the spring, where the Romans and the Guals
compete to enslave the other team. A good time is had by all.
Already the Latin Club has established its place in the roster
of H.H.S. foreign language clubs. Having learned such useful
phrases as "Semper ubi sub ubi" ("Always wear under wear"),
"Bracche tuae aperiuntur" ("Your fly is open"), "Hoc accedit
Zambonis!" ("Here comes the Zamboni"), the Latin Club looks
forward to forging on to bigger and better things, eventually
resulting in a complete takeover of the Foreign Language De-
partment.

We would like to thank our mustachioed, emperor-like fac-
ulty advisor, Mr. Doug "Douggie" Ryan, for his undying sup-
port, encouragement, and bigscreen T.V.

The 91-92 Student Council, led by
Pres. Scott Knox, V.P. Joe Pelekis, Sec.
Andy Locke, and Treas. Kathy Kelleher
had a very successful year esp. in in-
creasing school spirit. Highlights in-
clude: the Homecoming Pep Rally, a
costume contest for Halloween, a KISS
THE PIG CONTEST, and the talent
show. They distributed HHS pride pins
to the faculty and attempted to make
the town aware of the effects of Prop.
2 1/2. They continued to support their
foster child, Harry from Haiti, and or-
ganized a petition to get the song of the
day back on the air. This impeccably
organized group also managed to add
the second annual fast for world hun-
ger and a can drive to the Holiday Sea-
so. All in all, considering the missed
class time and the tasty free doughnuts
at meetings. Student Council wasn't
such a bad deal.

CLASS OF 1992

It's hard to believe four years are over. As the first freshman class at Hingham High School, we are all ready
to leave and to go our separate ways. We've accomplished much in these four years, particularly now in our
senior year under the leadership of Sarah Vanderweil, President; Tanya Sullivan, Vice-President; Kerry Cannon,
Secretary; and Julie DeAgazio, Treasurer.

We've had great success with numerous fundraisers during the past four years from candy sales to the Junior
Prom. Our class spirit has grown tremendously and has crescendoed in our final year. The four of us would like
to thank the entire senior class for the help and support. It's made all the difference! Good luck in the future.
Class of 1992, and let's keep in touch.

n 1991, the Hingham High chapter of the National Honor Society has made the transition from a purely academic
honor to an active contributor to community service. Members have gone to walk in a Juvenile Diabetes Walk-a-
thon to raise money for research into curing that debilitating condition, to prepare and serve Thanksgiving weekend
meals at Father Bill's Homeless Shelter, to salvage sort for the Boston Food Bank, to donate platelets at the Dana-
Farber Cancer Institute, to organize canned food drives, and to have some fun after we all graduated.

M

embership in the National Honor Society is extended to students entering their senior year who have
maintained high academic standards, shown significant leadership abilities, and have demonstrated strong character
throughout their years at the high school. NHS members are a varied bunch, ranging from drama club members to
sports captains to math team participants. They have pulled together as a unit to do their part to give back to the
town, state and nation which gave them so much.

The Orchestra has had a successful and,
yes, rewarding year. Under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Jane Hallett, the Orchestra
is soaring to new heights. Highlights of
the year include an applauded per-
formance at the National Honor Society
induction ceremony, and the annual
Music Dept. Fruit Sale fundraiser, which
was extremely successful in raising funds
for the trip to NYC in the spring. The
Orchestra was well represented at Jr.
and Sr. District Festivals, and Fay Fer-
ency received a coveted All State Rec-
ommendation. Also, a new group, the
Chamber Players, to which an audition
is required to get in, was formed this
year. This smaller group's sound, which
differed from that of the Main Or-
chestra, was applauded. Special thanks
to Mrs. Hallett for her seemingly titeless
efforts.

The Hingham High Girls' Soccer Team, led by tri-captains Tanya Sullivan, Kathy
Kelleher, and Kerry Cannon, had a great season despite the record of 4-9-4. The
strong contributions of the seniors, Julie DeAgazio, Danielle Decoste, Cristin Keo-
han, Kriten Mina, Holly Sarni, and Lauri Thorne, along with the captains, helped in
some close games. The supportive coaching of Mrs. Joan Williams gave emotional
and physical strength to the team, especially after the 1-0 loss to Duxbury, which
was, despite the score, a moral victory. The success of this year's team can be
attributed to the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm of the team and parents
as well as the girls' willingness to provide a positive atmosphere with each member
contributing to the team.

Varsity players: Kerri Cannon, Julie DeAgazio, Danielle DeCoste, Kathy Kelleher, Cristen Keohan, Kristen
Mina, Holly Sarni, Tanya Sullivan, Lauri Thorne, Sarah Vanderweil, Colleen Carnes, Kerry Durgin, Julie

Thomas Lauvsnes.

The 1991 season for the boys' soccer team was far more successful than hoped for. With all of the defensive backs
graduated, as well as other losses, the outlook seemed grim. Unexpectedly, the defense became one of the best
in the league, led by sweeper Bill Hughes and goalie Ben Mayhew, and helped by Brad Taylor, Andy Hess, and
Peter Cappers. The offense was solidified by strong play from league all-star Rick Schuhwerk, Jason Beal, and
sophomores Joe Kidston and Jason Hanrahan. The midfield was also strong with three returning starters. Todd
Mehrmann and Ken Conway took on new responsibilities and performed well. The midfield was led by EMASS
all star Peter Goulding, who received tremendous help defensively from Mike Dellavolpe. Overall, the senior
leadership on the team was instrumental in the team's success. The boys should be extremely proud of their season,
which ended with a loss to the eventual state champion, Wellesley.

The Hingham High Field Hockey Team had an ex-
citing season. The talent and spirit of the team
contributed to the tremendous comeback at the
end of the season. The team was led by co-cap-

seniors Allyson Hagerty, Susie Spellman, Brenda
Murphy, Meghan Donnelly and Alison Reppucci.
The team pulled together to tie arch-rivals Dennis
Yarmouth and Bridgewater-Rayhnam in two of the
most inspiring games of the season. The team
members want to thank their coach and friend,
Ms. Gordon, for her dedicated leadership which
the team couldn't have done without.
